As part of the Offshore Wind Industry Council’s (OWIC) Supply Chain Roadshow, SMC’s Managing Director, Captain Ian Coates, discussed the key to the company’s successes, stressing the importance of innovation, collaboration, and most importantly, working safely in what is an extremely challenging environment.
Ian was joined on stage by key industry figures, including UK Managing Director of Orsted, Matthew Wright, UK Managing Director of Siemens Gamesa UK, Clark McFarlane, and OWIC Lead and former McLaren CEO, Martin Whitmarsh.
As part of the Roadshow, delegates were invited to take part in three workshops:
1. Technology and Innovation
2. Market Access and Knowledge
3. Funding and Export
The OWIC is responsible for overseeing implementation of the Offshore Wind Industrial Strategy and is collectively working with Government to secure a transformative sector deal in the coming months, calling for an investable pipeline of projects with an increasing focus on local content and sustainability.
