SMC BUILD ON EA1 SUCCESSES
Following the establishment of an office within the OrbisEnergy centre, Lowestoft, SMC have been awarded a contract to provide Client Representatives to Scottish Power Renewables for the East Anglia ONE offshore wind project.
The contract relates to the supply of Client Representatives for the installation of Scour Protection, Piles, Jackets and Cables, as well as for Grouting Operations and WTG Package Works.
East Anglia ONE is located off the coast of East Anglia and will utilise port facilities at both Great Yarmouth and Lowestoft. The project, when operational, will consist of 102 7MW Siemens Gamesa wind turbines culminating in a combined project capacity of 714MW.
Dean Coates, SMC’s Operations Director commented, “We are delighted to build upon our relationship with Scottish Power Renewables, as well as to grow our footprint within the region of East Anglia. SMC remain steadfast in ensuring safety and quality within the offshore wind industry and this latest contract award is testament to our capacity to do so. This, along with the opening of our base in Lowestoft, further strengthens our commitment to supporting the industry within the region and we hope to see continued growth along with our partners and Clients”.
The East Anglia ONE project aims to support employment opportunities locally and Scottish Power Renewables £2.5 Billion investment in the project will see economic benefits for the east of England. At least 50% of the project investment will be spent in the UK.
SMC Client Representatives have already been deployed to provide their expertise in overseeing the installation of Scour Protection.
